Ernest Shackleton (February 15, 1874 – January 5, 1922), British Antarctic explorer who is famous for Antarctic exploration, was born in County Kildare in Ireland; he’s the second child in the home of 10 children.
1907 – 1909, he led the discovery ship named ‘Nimrod’ to Antarctica. January 9, 1909, they’re exerting for a final spurt to the South Pole, and at last left the national flag gifted by the Queen at Latitude 88 degrees 23 minutes, it’s only 97 miles away from the South Pole (approximately 180 km). But they had been exhausted and four people had to return to the ship.
1914 – 1916, he led the expedition ship named ‘Endurance’ to the Antarctica again.
